NET TRAMS

Welcome to pictures taken on odd visits to Nottingham

213 (Mary Potter) shows off her new Powergen livery leaving Pheonix Park on 27th August, 2005.

I went into Nottingham in late April 2007 for the first time since the Old Market Square there was remodelled. The original layout, with a sunken Processional Way along its length, with flower beds either side and large lantern light fittings along the roads at either side, dated from the completion of the Council House at one end in the 1920s. The first thing I noticed is that the underground toilets to the right of this shot are gone forever.......................

The new square's got a much more open aspect and there's much less of a division between the square itself and the roads (and tram tracks) around it.

There is still a considerable amount of seating, but the much larger flat area will be much more useful and safer for concerts and other events....................

........ though I do doubt the wisdom of having a large water feature which the public are encouraged to "play with" in such a public area!

July 2nd saw work taking me to Nottingham, so I stopped off in Bulwell. This shot is of 207 arriving southbound at Moor Bridge, where the car park entrance won't allow a Transit to park.................

................ and this shot shows 208 departing Hucknall - bound.

I then moved Nottingham-wards to Bulwell Forest, where we see 204 arriving northbound...............

............... and 209 leaving Bulwell Forest heading for town, over the level crossing shared with the heavy rail Robin Hood Line from Nottingham to Mansfield and Worksop.

Sorry the weather wasn't brilliant - Britain is having a very odd summer!

1145 pm on a hot early August Saturday night and Nottingham city centre is HEAVING...............

............... with revellers wandering all over the tram tracks on Market Street.....................

............... hen parties of all shapes, sizes and costumes roaming town..............

............... and car drivers driving where they shouldn't any more and getting caught by the Constabulary

Through it all the trams keep running - seen here on Market Street...........

............... at Royal Centre..................

............... and leaving Royal Centre for the north.
